By Marian Williams - Strange Eyes on Klee
Yellow Geisha is from the 'Mirror' series, a collection of geishas with half-faces.
The work depicts a portrait of a geisha dressed in yellow with a provocative expression. Her menace is accentuated by the pointed metal finger claw. The harsh gaze contrasts with the soft line of her silhouette. The black droplets balance this incongruity.
The face and the hand are paper collages, pasted onto the painted background.
Mixed media composition on an 89 x 116 cm linen canvas. Acrylic paint, paper, glue, varnish.
Signed and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
