By Marian Williams - Twiggy in pink
Mixed media on canvas. The foundation of this work is the iconic photograph of the then 16-year-old Twiggy (Dame Lesley Lawson), captured by Barry Lategan in 1966.
The image is mirrored, printed, and transferred onto canvas. The paper is roughly torn, giving the work a weathered appearance, as if it were an old poster or billboard.
The background consists of multiple layers of acrylic paint, where paint is added, removed, and worked for added depth. The portrait is finally finished with oil paint for a rich, layered look.
