The Frida series is a collection of Frida Kahlo portraits on large-format canvas, originally presented during the group exhibition Retro Fantastic in 2019 at the Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, Amsterdam.

The starting point is a powerful portrait of Frida Kahlo, showing both pride and scars. All works share the same composition, yet each is unique due to variations in color and finish. In the pop-art-inspired versions, Frida shines in vibrant, expressive colors.

The visible torn edges and overlapping layers give the works a distinct depth and dynamism. This combination of color and texture emphasizes the balance between vulnerability and strength, symbolized by Frida’s posture. This creates a contemporary ode to an iconic figure, bringing together tradition and modern visual language.
