Digitus Medius is a surreal portrait of a naked woman against a blue background. Half of the portrait shows her face with closed eyes. A hand covers, or reveals, the other half of the face, which is rendered in black and white with a stern gaze. The folded hands have metal claw nails. The middle finger of the left hand is extended and points upward. The face and body, powerful and weathered, are semi-transparent and show several juxtaposed layers: bones, skin, and tattoos.
The composition is a mix of paint, transfers, and collage. The transferred images, the tattoos, are from vintage magazines. The face is a paper collage; an authentic illustration from a vintage magazine.
Mixed media composition on canvas measuring 89 x 116 x 2 cm.
Signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
